Bengt
A new crutch to improve mobility for the user and make the everyday life easier.
Linköping University
Individual Project
Sept - Dec 2020
Description
The task of this school project was to make a difference. I choose to improve the accessibility for people with reduced mobility, more specifically adults in temporary need of crutches. Partly based on my own experience, I used several methodologies to come up with a new design of the classic crutch.
The first major change is that the crutches now can be attached to each other to improve the tasks of, for example, open a door or walk up the stairs if you want to hold on to the rail.
The other change is that Bengt can lean against a wall without any problems. The straight back in combination with a high friction material reduces the risk of the crutch slipping and falling.
